Confession: I am a foodie, and since I’ve been here in Jacksonville I have had the pleasure of experiencing many great restaurants and amazing food. However, everyone who I encountered told me that I had to experience the legendary Jenkins Quality BBQ here in Duval.
In 1957, Melvin Jenkins and his wife Willie Mae had “God, a dream, and $125″ and turned that dream into a reality serving up quality BBQ and a sauce that has been passed down from his father that has every customer licking their fingers.
So, one afternoon Shoutout from “Live from the Crab Pot” on our sister station Power 106.1, Wanda P, and myself went to Jenkins to give them their flowers...literally!
Shoutout presented the workers with flowers and we placed our order and I picked out the Rib Sandwich and let me tell you it did NOT disappoint! Note: Picture not included because I was just that hungry! *Don’t judge me!*
According to Action News Jax, the Food Network named Jenkins BBQ the Best BBQ in Florida in January 2023 which really says a lot about the family, quality of food, and being a “go to” spot for the community!
So, to the Jenkins family and staff of Jenkins Quality BBQ thank you for the 68 years of service to Duval County and surrounding areas.
You have left a lasting legacy of great BBQ here in DUUUVALLL!
