According to the people, CeCe Winans has some explaining to do. The gospel singer appeared in a ‘Trump for President’ ad.
After the ad sparked controversy, she went on Twitter to say the message of the ad was not correct because it was supposed to be a PSA on wearing masks. But that wasn’t enough for the people. So she decided to talk to A.R. Bernard to clear her name.
I can't believe CeCe Winans is Team MAGA. How disappointing.

In the Instagram Live she told him how this got started. She says she was approached by her management about doing a “public service announcement” about the importance of wearing a mask. “I’m a person of color. I have a voice. I’m a Pastor.” Winans says that coupled with the fact that COVID-19 has affected her personally, it made sense. So she agreed to sit down with the U.S Surgeon General, Jerome Adams, about this topic. She described it as being a “win win” to be able to get “solid information" because “knowledge is power.”
Bernard questioned the Grammy award winner about whether she thought about how this would look especially since Adams has been the black backdrop of many Trump press conferences. Winans basically said she was naive. “I thought it was an honor that they would call and ask me." She went on to say, “President Trump’s name did not come up or any other political figure.”
After more discussion with Bernard about the Zoom meeting with Adams he asked her if she was a Trump supporter.
CeCe Winans: “Explain that to me. What do you mean ‘support Donald Trump’?"
A.R. Bernard: “Do you campaign for him? Do you celebrate Donald Trump?”
CeCe Winans: “No, absolutely not. Absolutely not.”
She explained her beliefs by saying that the bible “tells us to honor those in leadership and to pray for those in leadership.” She added, “It doesn’t tell me that I have to support him." After she was asked who she was voting for she said, "It’s nobody’s business who I’m voting for. I like to think of myself as independent. I feel like we need change.”
The verdict: There appears to be no association between the singer and the president.
