Jacksonville, FL — On Friday the Assistant Secretary for Health, Admiral Brett Giroir told Jacksonville’s Morning News that NE Florida would benefit from a surge in coronavirus testing.
“Jacksonville is certainly on the list of spots that we’re looking at because of the high rates of infection”, Giroir said.
Today, the Florida Division of Emergency Management has announced three federally funded COVID-19 testing sites will open this week in Jacksonville. These drive-thru testing sites will be open from July 8 through July 15.
The locations will offer active COVID-19 virus testing for people ages 5+:
- First Coast Senior High School, 590 Duval Station Rd. from 8 am to 6 pm
- Frank H. Peterson Academies, 7450 Wilson Blvd. from 8 am to 6 pm
- Regency Square Mall/Sears store, 9501 Arlington Expressway from 8 am to 6 pm
Appointments/online registration is recommended for these sites. The State of Florida Lot J testing site at TIAA Bank Field will continue daily from 9 am to 5 pm.
Additionally, a new mobile unit for COVID-19 testing will be available at the Department of Health facility near UF Health in Springfield. It will operate from 9 am to 3 pm all this week.
