Record challenging heat ahead, somewhat cooler by Friday

2006 record high of 93 degrees could be tied or broken.

Jacksonville, Fl — Similar to yesterday, it will be another day of record challenging heat. Action News Jax Chief Meteorologist Mike Buresh says we’ll approach the 2006 record of 93 degrees under partly sunny skies.

“If we don’t reach it we’re going to very very close. We oughta be in the low 80s this time of year, so about ten degrees above average”, said Buresh.

An isolated afternoon shower is not out of the picture for today, but most of the area won’t see rain until tomorrow afternoon as well as on Thursday.

That will clear the way for a return of mild days and lower humidity with temperatures near average, in the low 80s, on Friday and Saturday.
